Philosophy

It is central to my teaching that I create an inclusive and student-centric space for learning. My students - no matter the age - are the guiding force to my lesson design and intentions. Together, we cultivate artistic observation while engaging with our own unique creativities and motivations. This is how we maintain a lifelong desire for learning, by allowing our minds to to develop strong studio habits that strengthen our inherent inclinations and talents. As a teacher, I hope to encourage my students to be reflective on their practices and their surroundings, all of which play an integral role in their successes. Often, my classes look to nature for inspiration, seeking out elemental shapes, patterns, colors, to move us forward. My classes are for everyone, and my lessons strive for inclusivity and access for every student, including adaptations and accommodations.
