Erica Hutchins is an artist and photographer currently living, working and creating in rural Pennsylvania. Her exploration in photography started in 2006 at the Moore College of Art and Design (Philadelphia, PA) through a darkroom course for young artists. She continued to pursue this interest by taking multiple photography classes at the Banana Factory (Bethlehem, PA) with Ed Ekstein in 2007 and 2008. After these studies she found that any medium is open for exploration and acquired an AFA in Fine Arts. Upon moving to Easton, Pennsylvania, Erica worked alongside a variety of professional artists within the Lehigh Valley. Some of these artists include Chaz Hampton , Ken Kewley, Kay Walkingstick, Larry Fink, Martha Posner, Ed Kerns, Jay Milder, Berrisford Boothe, Jim Toia and Katie Heffelfinger. This work experience helped expand her personal pallet of skills ranging from painting to hands on fabrication and installation.
Previously, Erica held positions at Lafayette College as a Technical Instructional Assistant to Ed Kerns, Studio Technician in the Williams Visual Arts Building, Grossman Gallery exhibition preparator and art handler. Parallel to this position, she was employed by Brick + Mortar Gallery (Easton, PA) under Chaz Hampton as a studio/gallery assistant. Seasonally, Erica assisted in sculpture maintenance along the Karl Stirner Arts Trail and taught summer art courses at NCC with the Horizons for Youth Program.
Currently Erica is enrolled as a full time student at Kutztown University working toward her B.S. in Art Education for Alternative Settings, graduating Fall 2022.
